| 約書亞在世和約書亞死後、那些見耶和華為以色列人所行大事的長老還在的時候、百姓都事奉耶和華。 耶和華的僕人、嫩的兒子約書亞、正一百一十歲就死了。 以色列人將他葬在他地業的境內、就是在以法蓮山地的亭拿希烈、在迦實山的北邊。 那世代的人、也都歸了自己的列祖．後來有別的世代興起、不知道耶和華、也不知道耶和華為以色列人所行的事。 以色列人行耶和華眼中看為惡的事、去事奉諸巴力． 離棄了領他們出埃及地的耶和華、他們列祖的 神、去叩拜別神、就是四圍列國的神、惹耶和華發怒。 並離棄耶和華、去事奉巴力和亞斯他錄。 耶和華的怒氣向以色列人發作、就把他們交在搶奪他們的人手中．又將他們付與四圍仇敵的手中、甚至他們在仇敵面前再不能站立得住。 And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel. If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. |

| 大衛王對會眾說、我兒子所羅門是 神特選的、還年幼嬌嫩、這工程甚大．因這殿不是為人、乃是為耶和華 神建造的。 我為我 神的殿已經盡力、預備金子作金器、銀子作銀器、銅作銅器、鐵作鐵器、木作木器、還有紅瑪瑙可鑲嵌的寶石、彩石和一切的寶石、並許多漢白玉。 且因我心中愛慕我 神的殿、就在預備建造聖殿的材料之外、又將我自己積蓄的金銀獻上、建造我 神的殿． 就是俄斐金三千他連得、精鍊的銀子七千他連得、以貼殿牆。 金子作金器、銀子作銀器、並藉匠人的手製造一切。今日有誰樂意將自己獻給耶和華呢。 於是眾族長、和以色列各支派的首領、千夫長、百夫長、並監管王工的官長、都樂意獻上。 他們為 神殿的使用、獻上金子五千他連得、零一萬達利克、銀子一萬他連得、銅一萬八千他連得、鐵十萬他連得。 凡有寶石的都交給革順人耶歇、送入耶和華殿的府庫。 因這些人誠心樂意獻給耶和華、百姓就歡喜、大衛王也大大歡喜。(歷代志上 29:1-9) Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great: for the palace is not for man, but for the LORD God. Now I have prepared with all my might for the house of my God the gold for things to be made of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and the brass for things of brass, the iron for things of iron, and wood for things of wood; onyx stones, and stones to be set, glistering stones, and of divers colours, and all manner of precious stones, and marble stones in abundance. Moreover, because I have set my affection to the house of my God, I have of mine own proper good, of gold and silver, which I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, Even three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses withal: The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD? Then the chief of the fathers and princes of the tribes of Israel, and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, with the rulers of the king's work, offered willingly, And gave for the service of the house of God of gold five thousand talents and ten thousand drams, and of silver ten thousand talents, and of brass eighteen thousand talents, and one hundred thousand talents of iron. And they with whom precious stones were found gave them to the treasure of the house of the LORD, by the hand of Jehiel the Gershonite. 我的弟兄們, 你們信奉我們榮耀的主耶穌基督, 便不可按著外貌待人.
若有一個人帶著金戒指, 穿著華美衣服, 進你們的會堂去. 又有一個窮人, 穿著骯髒衣服也進去.
你們就重看那穿華美衣服的人, 說, 請坐在這好位上. 又對那窮人說, 你站在那裡, 或坐在我腳凳下邊.
這豈不是你們偏心待人, 用惡意斷定人麼. (雅各書 2:1-4) My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? |
耶和華安排一條大魚吞了約拿, 他在魚腹中三日三夜. 約拿在魚腹中禱告耶和華他的 神, 說, 我遭遇患難求告耶和華, 你就應允我;
從陰間的深處呼求, 你就俯聽我的聲音. 你將我投下深淵, 就是海的深處. 大水環繞我, 你的波浪洪濤, 都漫過我身.
我說, 我從你眼前雖被驅逐, 我仍要仰望你的聖殿. 諸水環繞我, 幾乎淹沒我; 深淵圍住我, 海草纏繞我的頭.
我下到山根, 地的門將我永遠關住. 耶和華我的 神阿, 你卻將我的性命從坑中救出來.
我心在我裡面發昏的時候, 我就想念耶和華. 我的禱告進入你的聖殿, 達到你的面前. 那信奉虛無之神的人, 離棄憐愛他們的主.
但我必用感謝的聲音獻祭與你. 我所許的願, 我必償還. 救恩出於耶和華. 耶和華吩咐魚, 魚就把約拿吐在旱地上. (約拿書 1:17 - 2:10) Salvation Comes From the Lord Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. | 2009.06.07 | 耶和華的話臨到亞米太的兒子約拿、說、你起來往尼尼微大城去、向其中的居民呼喊、因為他們的惡達到我面前。 約拿卻起來、逃往他施去躲避耶和華．下到約帕、遇見一隻船、要往他施去。他就給了船價、上了船、要與船上的人同往他施去躲避耶和華。 然而耶和華使海中起大風、海就狂風大作、甚至船幾乎破壞。水手便懼怕、各人哀求自己的神．他們將船上的貨物拋在海中、為要使船輕些。 約拿已下到底艙、躺臥沉睡。船主到他那裡對他說、你這沉睡的人哪、為何這樣呢。起來、求告你的神、或者神顧念我們、使我們不至滅亡。 船上的人彼此說、來罷、我們掣籤、看看這災臨到我們是因誰的緣故．於是他們掣籤、掣出約拿來。 眾人對他說、請你告訴我們、這災臨到我們是因誰的緣故．你以何事為業．你從那裡來．你是哪一國、屬那一族的人。 他說、我是希伯來人．我敬畏耶和華、那創造滄海旱地之天上的 神。 他們就大大懼怕、對他說、你作的是甚麼事呢．他們已經知道他躲避耶和華、因為他告訴了他們。 他們問他說、我們當向你怎樣行、使海浪平靜呢．這話是因海浪越發翻騰。 他對他們說、你們將我抬起來、拋在海中、海就平靜了．我知道你們遭這大風、是因我的緣故。然而那些人竭力盪槳、要把船攏岸、卻是不能． 因為海浪越發向他們翻騰。他們便求告耶和華說、耶和華阿、我們懇求你、不要因這人的性命使我們死亡．不要使流無辜血的罪歸與我們． 因為你耶和華是隨自己的意旨行事。他們遂將約拿抬起、拋在海中、海的狂浪就平息了。那些人便大大敬畏耶和華、向耶和華獻祭、並且許願。 (約拿書 1:1-16) | ||

| 又有我們的幾個人,往墳墓那裡去, 所遇見的, 正如婦女們所說的, 只是沒有看見他. 耶穌對他們說: 無知的人哪!先知所說的一切話, | |||
| 你們的心, 信得太遲鈍了. 基督這樣受害, 又進入他的榮耀, 豈不是應當的麼. 於是從摩西和眾先知起, 凡經上所指著自己的話, 都給他們講解明白了. | |||
